What is Financial Planning?

Good financial planning gives clients objective assistance in organising their personal or corporate financial affairs, to more readily achieve financial and lifestyle goals. It also should include prudent provision for greater financial security, as no one knows what the future may have in store.

Financial planning is in simple terms a professional assessment of where you are now, and recommendations to help you to achieve where you wish to be in the future. This can lead to the recommendation of a specific plan, policy, service or investment, for example starting a personal pension or taking out additional life cover, but initially we will produce a financial plan specifically tailored to your particular situation and goals.

The Financial Planning Process

As your adviser we will need to know as much as possible about your financial situation before making any recommendations. So once you have arranged an initial appointment be prepared to bring to the first meeting details of any life assurance, investments, savings, pensions or other policies you may have.

You will spend time with your advisor discussing your specific circumstances and identifying your goals over the short, medium and long term. Thus enabling your adviser to build up a comprehensive picture on which to base their analysis. Recommendations on how best to reach your stated goals will then be prepared for the next meeting.

At the second meeting your adviser will explain their recommendations, outlining ways to make your money work harder and more effectively. We will explain the approach we have taken and why.

The next stage is to implement this action plan of recommendations, step by step, with guidance on the most suitable way to make this happen. This could include recommendations of a specific products or services available in the market at the time.

Progress needs to be revised at regular intervals which we will agree with you, and regular reviews scheduled. Adjustments can then be advised as necessary, depending on changes in your particular circumstances, or in your goals.

Our advice will always focus on you, the client, and recommendations of products or services will always be made based on what is best suited to your needs. Of course we will always keep in mind both your budget and what you wish to achieve at each stage.

Whatever your current financial position and whatever you're aiming for in life, we can help you open new opportunities, and protect you, your business, or your family against the unexpected. We would be delighted to talk to you about your financial planning needs and give you an open and honest assessment of your current financial position before we start work on your behalf.
